Indian B Schools gloomy performance continued in The Economist MBA ranking too

The Indian B-Schools have not performed well in recently published The Times Higher Education World Ranking and Financial Times World Ranking. Now another leading magazine, The Economist published an MBA ranking where once again these leading Indian B-Schools failed to secure a position. In the ranking list of top 100 business schools of the world Booth School of Business, US topped the chart. Only one Indian B-School Indian Institute of Management - Ahmedabad (IIM-A) managed to secure a place and that too at 56th position. IIM-A is the only B-School which is consistently securing a position in this B-School ranking from last three years.

US B-Schools have dominated this list with 45 management institutes including names such as Harvard Business School, Tick School of Business, Kenan Flagler Business School, Wharton School and Carlson School of Management. More than ten UK B-Schools grabbed positions institutes like Cass Business School, Henley Business School, Warwick Business School are ranked in the list.

The India education practice head of a global consultancy firm said, "The continued dismal performance of Indian educational institutes on global rankings points to the lack of global mindset and dearth of research activity in the Indian education scenario. To be able to get into these prestigious rankings, institutes here need to concentrate on improving their research output and global content."

One interesting thing which was revealed in this FT Global MBA Ranking was that SP Jain School of Global Management located in Dubai and Singapore captured the 91st position in the ranking, but SP Jain Institute in India failed to get position in the list.

Indian management institutes have been performing badly in almost all world rankings published by well known organisations in past few weeks. Not even a single Indian institute got a position in the Top 200 universities across the globe in the QS World University Ranking. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) was listed at 212th position followed by IIT-Bombay at 227th place and IIT-Kanpur at 278th position.
