The WEEK B-School ranking 2012: IIMs captured most positions in Top 10 List

The WEEK B-School ranking 2012: IIMs captured most positions in Top 10 List

The WEEK-Hansa Research Best Courses & Colleges Survey 2012 has recently published the report of India's Best B-School survey. The survey saw IIMs competing with each other IIMs to get a place in the list of top 10 B-Schools of the county. IIM-Ahmedabad once again captured the first position. It has been time and again rated at top position in various B-School surveys. In this survey the top three leading Indian Institutes of Management - IIM-Ahmedabad, IIM-Kolkata and IIM - Bangalore grabbed the first, second and third positions respectively.

XLRI Jamshedpur is ranked at fourth position, whereas IIM-Lucknow and IIM-Indore got 5th and 6th places respectively. IIM-Kozhikode which is not very old is gaining the popularity and each year performing good and then better in B-School ranking and survey. In this ranking it gained 8th spot and FMS Delhi is ranked at 7th position.

Some other prestigious management colleges such as SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR), Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management (JBIMS) and Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies are ranked among the top 15 B-Schools of the country. They captured the 9th, 10th and 11th position followed by MDI Gurgaon at 12th position and SCMHRD Pune at No.13.

The most surprising outcome of this ranking is ICFAI Hyderabad and K J Somaiya Mumbai standing above the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, Mumbai, which is ranked at 23rd place.

Though the prestigious old IIMs captured the maximum places in top 10 ranking, but the new IIMs did not even manage to get a place in top 25 B-Schools of the country, which is quite surprising to all.

The India education practice head of a global consultancy firm said, "The continued dismal performance of Indian educational institutes on global rankings points to the lack of global mindset and dearth of research activity in the Indian education scenario. To be able to get into these prestigious rankings, institutes here need to concentrate on improving their research output and global content."

One interesting thing which was revealed in this FT Global MBA Ranking was that SP Jain School of Global Management located in Dubai and Singapore captured the 91st position in the ranking, but SP Jain Institute in India failed to get position in the list.

Indian management institutes have been performing badly in almost all world rankings published by well known organisations in past few weeks. Not even a single Indian institute got a position in the Top 200 universities across the globe in the QS World University Ranking. Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (IIT-D) was listed at 212th position followed by IIT-Bombay at 227th place and IIT-Kanpur at 278th position.
